State Russian Museum and Krupskaya Confectionary Factory has finalized the contest of written essays for the pupils from the regional schools
From September 24 up till November 26, 2008 Confectionary Factory named after N. K. Krupskaya together with the State Russian Museum under the support of BC Communications has held a contest of written essays «Life of one masterpiece» in more than 35 schools of Velikiy Novgorod, Vyborg, Kingisepp, Luga.
The contest was held in 3 stages:
— Writing of essays
— Summing up the results, announcing the winners and awarding of the winners and participants of the contest
— Trips for the winners and their classmates.
All in all there were presented 377 essays for the contest. The authors of the most interesting works received the main prize — fascinating trip to Saint-Petersburg for the winner and all his or her classmates with the excursions to the Russian Museum and to the factory of «sweet dreams» — Krupskaya chocolate factory. And all the participants were awarded with the diplomas and sweet prizes.

During their trip to Saint-Petersburg school children visited Krupskaya factory , where the most honored factory workers with the more than 55-years of chocolate experience guided the pupils to the holy of holies — «sweet dreams» factory. Young writers got acquainted with the history of chocolate, with the great interest they visited production site, where production workers create miracles in order to present joyfulness to all the chocolate lovers. This full of events day for the winners and their classmates was finished with the excursions to the State Russian museum. Professional guides arranged ceremonial welcome to the children in the museum and congratulated the winners.
Main tasks of this contest are — development of good taste and striving for knowledge and self-development. The contest increases motivation for investigation of cultural heritage and stimulates young talents for future growth.
Teachers from general education schools received a prefect possibility to contribute to the preservation and investigation of Russian cultural heritage and to the opening of new young talents.
From the history of the contest
The contest was arranged on the basis of longstanding cooperation between Russian museum and the biggest confectionary enterprise of the country, that combined together the best cultural traditions of Russia.
During the last few years State Russian Museum and Krupskaya Confectionary arranged and implemented the set of social events aimed at development of creative abilities and aesthetic taste.
A special launch of collection chocolate series was dedicated to 110-th anniversary of the Russian Museum with the depiction of seven paintings of such Russian painters as: Karl Brullov, Orest Kiprenskiy, Valentin Serov and Boris Kustodiev.
Contest participants were writing about these paintings trying to revive images, depicted on them. During the process of writing contest participants were absorbed with the biography of chosen painter, where thinking about the destiny of chosen painting, on its importance for Russian cultural heritage. Almost all the works appeared to be interesting, bright, original and creative. The members of the contest organization committee were choosing the winner among the most distinctive works, that were chosen by preliminary voting.
Contest «Life of one masterpiece» was oriented on the school pupils from 8-10 forms of general education schools, gymnasiums, lycees.
Russian museum expert on educational methods was the chairman of the jury, that has chosen final winners by October 24. The last trip for school children from Vyborg was arranged on November 26.
